Chris McCowan, a computer science professor, witnesses the brutal murder of his finance by what appears to be a terrorist group. As he tries to come to grips with his loss, he turns his back on his faith, becoming obsessed with a need to exact revenge on the perpetrators, and thus the ‘Vengeance Squad’ is born. With the help of one of his students - a wheelchair bound ex-con, and a matronly librarian who also happens to have cash and clout with various government agencies, Chris and Co. set out to catch the criminals. Joined by an attractive secret agent, the evidence gathering, adventures and near misses just keep coming. I must admit that sometimes the situations seemed a little implausible, perhaps with one too many coincidences or lucky breaks. I also wondered at the character’s motivation at times, too, especially Tex, the ex-con. As a professing Christian he was as anxious to kill the bad guys as Chris was, even though it really wasn’t his battle. However, if you like a good detective story The Vengeance Squad delivers.
