First Response is number three in Michelle Sutton’s Tombstone Series. It definitely lives up to the standard of the first two books in terms of its romance, character development and Christian theme. Tiffany is a massage therapist and Chet, whom we’ve met in previous books, is an EMT. He’s hurt his back and needs treatment and thus the romance begins. The book is set in modern day Tombstone where ordinary citizens role play characters from the ‘wild west’ for the many tourists…

YAHSHUA'S BRIDGE is the second in The Master’s Wall series by Sandi Rog. Set in ancient Rome, the book takes place during the turbulent years of the early Christian church. Here we meet Alexander, a young slave who also happens to be the son of his master. The book spans twelve years of his life, full of interesting descriptions of Roman customs as well as the sometimes sordid truth of what life for a Christian was like at that time. His story is woven together…

Wow! This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. For a first novel, Ginny Jaques sure knows how to grab the reader right from the instant the book begins and not let go. The description is magnificent, the characters varied and believable, and the action is well paced. Despite the fact that this is a really long book, I didn’t want to stop reading until I reached the final page.
The book is set in the not too distant future when a worldwide government has been…

There was a lot of good information in this book about the holes in evolutionary theory and how creation actually makes more sense scientifically. In that regard it was quite interesting.
A teenaged girl sets out to prove creation to her science teacher and gets several friends on board. The protag is a young male – the quarterback of the football team, who happens to fall for the cute ‘new’ girl. Although not a Christian himself, he soon finds himself going to church in order to…

PROMISES by E.G. Lewis was certainly not what I was expecting, and in this case that is a good thing! Rather than a fluffy romance, I got a well written novel with substance. Sure, there was romance, but this book is so much more than that. It is the epic journey of a woman who rises above the trials of life to become the person she was meant to be all along. It starts when Mary Jane is just 15, on the eve of her mother’s funeral. From there it takes us through her struggles at…

As a contemporary Christian novel for youth, SHOOT THE WOUNDED delivers the gospel with enough angst that it is sure to meet with the approval of today’s teen. It delves into relevant topics such as teen pregnancy and family violence, mixed with the usual boy-girl relationships and coming of age themes common to YA fiction. In this book we see that being a Christian isn’t easy, and it certainly doesn’t mean you are perfect. SHOOT THE WOUNDED is the first in a trilogy by Canadian author Lynn…

An eclectic, conflicting mix of personalities themselves,…

Havah is the story of Adam and Eve. However, this is no Sunday School version! Author Tosca Lee has very skillfully taken the familiar Biblical tale and woven it into a rich tapestry full of unedited human drama, despair, pain, and triumph. The story is told from Eve’s point of view, giving us a whole different perspective – right from the moment she wakes in the garden, to the subtle deception of the serpent, and on through almost 900 years of her struggles as matriarch of…

Back On Murder by J. Mark Bertrand is a murder mystery extraordinaire. Houston detective Roland March is disillusioned and misunderstood, relegated to special assignments nobody else wants. What Every Dream Means by Scott Schafer is an enlightening and fascinating instruction manual on interpreting dreams from a Biblical paradigm. Scott begins by making a case for dream interpretation as a valid spiritual gift that is still relevant – even necessary – in today’s world. He carefully takes us through scripture to build a very convincing argument, and creates a solid foundation for understanding. He also gives practical tips, addresses possible misuses (including the…
