North of 60!

The photo I used for this group is actually taken on the Alaska Highway in the Yukon, so it is not only north of the 49th, it is north of 60!

Challenges - remote areas

What are some of the specific challenges you have faced living in remote areas? Book signings, and media interviews are not that plentiful or accessible where i live.

I am currently the featured author on Kara Hunt's blog "Fiction With Faith". You can check it out by going to: http://www.fictionwithfaith.blogspot.com/
Also, Kara has another great blog called 'Unspeakable Joy". You will find the link for that if you go to her blog.
Thanks for a great interview, Kara. God bless.

Hi Tracy- I found out how to join. The challenges I find living in a remote area are getting out to writer's conferences, ect. Remote area are so remote one has to travel a long way just to get "Outside." I find a lot of agents and even publishers aren't interested in stories from authors living in remote areas.
To make it brief, just about everything that writers living in the "South" take for grantedconcerning writing, is a challenge to us living in remote areas.

Wonderful to have you here Grace. I popped over to your site to check it out. Your series sounds interesting. We lived in churchill, MB for a total of 6 years (2 different times...) so I imigine it is a lot like the James Bay area. I know all about remote, believe you me! Are you a member of 'Inscribe'? This is a Canadina Christian writers Group.

I'm sure the Churchhill area is similiar to the James Bay frontier area. TJBF border touches on the Manitoba- Ontario border.
I grew up on a little hamlet in Northern- eastern Ontario called Sesekinika, So The Asquinn Twins Series are really books written from my heart.
Did I say I live in The Pas, Manitoba now. I'm married to a loving husband and own two dogs- one a happy, outgoing, fiesty Papillon and the other a watch dog mix.
May i ask where is it you live?

I currently live in Tumbler Ridge, BC. it is a northern mountain/mining town known as BC's waterfall capital because of its close proximity to about 20 or so waterfalls. Some people feel it is isolated, but to my standards it is nothing. We're only an hour from shoppingm, and only 7 hours from Edmonton. :) I lived in the Yukon for 8 years before that, the NWT for 2 years before that, both Fort St. John and Dawson Creek, BC, Churchill, as i said and 8 different locations in Saskatchewan. (My husband and i are kind of 'adventureres', so we've moved a lot.
